The Collapse of the Space and Time
Continuum

The speed in transport and communication on contemporary
Culture and lifestyle:

Communication

The human race constantly needs to adapt to technology due to the rapid changes. Due to the rapid changes in our everyday lives the human species need to evolve an adaptive behaviour in order to integrate the changes of every day technology.

When we look at our era we are living in, the human race would be completely lost
Without electronics. People have created necessities for things that has been considered luxuries or that have not existed 20 years ago. Technology has seemed to make our lives easier and therefore without all the electronics life seems harder which affects our lifestyle. Today, human beings have become so dependent on technology that it has evolved as part of their culture, which creates a stressful, high need to keep up with the rapid changes of technology. Technology plays such a big role nowadays that we can define it as a concept of modern society.

Progress of the cell phone.

The evolution in cell phones

Examples of Communication…
An example of communication is the cell phone. The cellphone was created in 1994 and have rapidly evolved over the years. Where the cell phone started off as just a piece of electronic that can make and receive phone calls, today it is used for many different things such as Internet, sms, games, GPS and even for music.

Another example of communication is the Internet. The Internet has many different
features. One can look up information, chat to friends on Facebook, have a blog to speak your mind, and even use Skype. Skype is an online communication where one can speak to someone else face to face on the other side of the world.
Due to technology such as the Internet it has shrunk the world due to the fact that one can now immediately know what is going on in the rest of the world with only a click of a button.

Connecting the world via the Internet

Facebook (A social network)

There are many different types of technology available such as the Ipad, iPod’s, laptops, high definition television, DSTV and so much more. These types of communication methods have caused our society to rely on more than what we need, but due to the need created through advertising it is seen that our culture cannot survive without technology.
This is due to the fact that technology is so rapid that almost every second month there is a new model of a piece of electronic. This is no wonder our society feels the need to do everything to a fast passé and that is why society is under severe stress and can’t keep up with the demand that society creates.

The Automobile

Leonardo Da Vinci and Isaac Newton generated the first thought of a car. Ferdinand
Verbiest created the first steam car in 1672. The car was made in China, as Ferdinand was a missionary and experimentalist from China.
Comparing the very first car to our cars today is extremely different. Our cars run on
petrol and not on steam. Today’s cars have many different features such as computers, airbags, and power steering as this was not even a thought to the very first car.

Improvement of the automobile

First car invented evolved to the 2008 Ferrrari.

Evolution of the Ford car.

A car of today’s society increases our ability to live a comfortable life. Its speed can reach up to 260kilometers per hour, which fits well with our rapid lives we live today. Everything is automatic which increases our comfort as we have cruse control and even electric windows. The main objective of cars today is the more comfortable we drive the more comfort our lives would be.

Scientists and specialists have allowed for older cars to develop in such a way that it has improved its quality and performance. This allowed for people not only to buy cars for transport but for status as well. Therefore people buy attractive cars to improve their status and to feel good about them.

Examples of contemporary automobiles and new advancements:

BRB Evolution (In drive mode)

BRB Evolution (Parked)

This car designed by Daniel Bailey has taken the folding up car to a whole new level. This car looks like a Lamborghini when it is in normal drive mode, but once the car parked it looks like an upright Dyson.

Honda Civic Type R 2013

As we can see cars are becoming rounder to give it more air dynamicity. Colours become more vivid and the cars have bigger wheels and less ground clearness. This is all due to the demand of what society thinks looks good. Within our culture we feel the more you can push into a limited space, the better. Therefore the more features a car has the better, but the more expensive it gets.

As we can see not only has cars evolved into fast, luxurious cars but also its designed changed so much that it becomes “clever cars.” With that said, automobiles and communication fits in perfectly with our culture as we expect only the best.
